Goodwill Style Session
In June, we hosted a special Whiskey Wednesday event to promote this summer’s 5th annual Dapper as **** event partnered with YPOS. At our event, we selected two contestants to win a personal style session at Goodwill by the Seattle Gents influencers.
Parker Phend (top) is a program manager who is very active with business and entrepreneurship. Gloria Cropper (Bottom) has her own business where she takes people’s dogs on adventures and offers training sessions and overnight boarding. They both love fashion and enjoy getting style inspiration from local experts. Check out below the outfits they chose!
Most people wouldn’t think of thrifting shopping at Goodwill. It’s a hidden secret that you can find some beautiful and great-quality pieces for cheap prices. Do you ever struggle with what to wear at a date with that special someone, networking event with other professionals, or happy hour with friends? Well, to prepare for the Dapper as **** party, we are hosting a panel of local personal stylists to talk about the do’s and don’t’s of fashion in Seattle!
If you purchase a ticket to our style panel, you’ll receive a discount to Dapper as **** on August 17th. Hope to see you there!

On June 19th, we hosted a very special Whiskey Wednesday to celebrate Dapper as **** with the Young Professionals of Seattle (YPOS).
Dapper as * * * * was launched by YPOS back in 2014 with intentions to provide the growing young professional community with a unique event experience, promoting fashion and networking while celebrating the close of a beautiful Seattle Summer. For the second year in a row, we have partnered up with YPOS to enhance the event experience and help bridge the gap between local fashion, social media influencers and young professionals.
Whiskey Wednesday Special was an opening party for Dapper as ****, which will be held on August 17th. Our guests enjoyed getting together and meeting new people while sipping on delicious beverages at the historic Hotel Sorrento. Some of the highlights of the event included the following:
- Preview of what Dapper as **** is
- Inside look of who our brand sponsors are (Indochino, Wolf Clothing, and Timbuk2)
- Raffle giveaway to win a bag from Timbuk2 and sneakers from ROOY
- Contest to win a styling session with some of our influencers (clothes provided by our non-profit sponsor Goodwill)
- Swag from Wolf Clothing

Next Event for the Dapper Series
Our next event leading up to Dapper as **** will be our stylist panel in early August. Stay tuned as we provide more details in the weeks to come.

Last month, we hosted a panel event moderated by Nick Hughes from Founders Live. The panel featured some incredible speakers who talked about how fashion and technology intersect in today’s market. We had a filled room at ATLAS Workbase (proud sponsor of The Gentleman’s Prologue) and were excited to feature food provided by Evergreens and Dote Coffee Bar.
If you missed the event, here are the main topics that were discussed:
How has fashion converged with technology in the past few years?
Fashion and technology have rapidly converged in recent years, but there's still a large gap between the two. If you think about the way fashion and apparel have been communicated online through internet, you can pretty much upload images of what you’re wearing almost immediately. There are essentially better ways to perfect product design by "surveying" customers online through technologies to influence what will go to market.
When you add machine learning and artificial intelligence in the mix, you're able to create personal experiences in a digital world that is obsessed with personalization.
What is effective with utilizing influencers to drive awareness and sales?
As brands become smarter with how they want to work with influencers, they need to think of new customer acquisition even if they have brand awareness. They also need to think about traffic but also need to drive conversion.
If a customer is looking for inspiration, he or she will go to an open source to get ideas. That's where a platform like social media comes into play. In this case, going through influencer networks is a great strategy. However, if a customer knows what he or she wants, direct search is the better option.

2019 Fashion Tech Trends
On January 30th, Seattle Gents is hosting a panel discussion about how fashion and technology intersect. The fashion retail and e-commerce markets have transformed as technology has advanced over the years. As a result, brands and influencers must think about how they can speak to consumers, especially as the tech industry continues to grow. Here are some fashion tech trends we think will be relevant in 2019.
Brands focusing on affiliate marketing for influencers (which means more SALES)
As influencer marketing on social media has been on a significant rise over the past few years, brands are now getting smarter with how they want to work with influencers. It’s time to be more realistic and authentic with your content by going beyond just “spreading awareness.” We must think about how we can help brands with SALES, which is getting harder now because of the flood of ads.
Subscription-based revenue model
More and more retail brands are playing on e-commerce as consumers turn to online shopping. One way to incentivize consumers is to provide a recurring payment model. This is a trend that we think is going to continue heavily in 2019.
Voice search for purchase
As consumers are looking for more convenient ways to purchase, voice makes it quicker. Devices like Alexa and Google Home have collected data and made it easier for consumers to buy online simply by talking to them.
Brands and influencers are going to have to think about how to incorporate sustainable fashion in their content. People enjoy the idea that they are “saving the planet” by simply recycling items. Sustainability is connected with a global initiative for the environment and fashion & apparel is certainly in the discussion.
You won't want to miss our discussion about how fashion and tech intersect! The panel event is perfect for those who are involved in fashion tech or are a social media influencer looking to grow his or her following.
