A Style of Your Own
A wise man once said, “Look good, feel good, do good!” It’s always stuck in the context of how we build our confidence in ourselves.
Have you ever wished you felt more confident in the way you dressed? We’re going to help you look good! Whether it’s for a job interview, a first date, your holiday party, or anything else, we want you to feel good in those shoes of yours. Well, we are excited to partner with Foundation and offer a men’s fashion workshop A Style of Your Own on Thursday, November 29th from 6 to 8 pm.
In this fun, interactive evening of looking fly, we will not only help you understand different styles and options available (hint: you will be helping decide how some of the Seattle Gents strut their stuff) but we will help you express your own personality – defining your own unique style.
Come join us, hangout and learn, and have a great time connecting with new people at this workshop. As with all events, come with friends or by yourself, we’ll make sure you leave feeling more connected to community in Seattle. Light snacks and drinks will be provided. Shoutout to Seattle Cider Company for throwing in some seltzer, cider, beer, and swag for the event! We’d like to thank Industrious Seattle for hosting us, and our media partner, The Evergrey, for being an amazing resource in making Seattle a stronger community.

Seattle Gents 2-Year Anniversary Recap
All photos taken by Debra Hart
Our 2-year anniversary event was a success! Last week we had so much fun celebrating with fellow menswear enthusiasts at Hotel Theodore. During the event, keynote speaker Andrew Hoge talked about what it means to be #TheModernMan and sketch artist Dominic Gomez drew to perfection, all while listening to music from DJ Mixxtress.
What we loved about the event was an environment for guests to learn about sponsored brands that they weren’t familiar with before. For example, Timbuk2 is a lifestyle brand that offers messenger bags for bicycle enthusiasts. The brand has evolved into a company that creates such a versatile style of bags for essentially anyone, whether you love bikes or not. Guests were able to hang out with the Timbuk2 team at the event and enter into a raffle drawing for an awesome laptop briefcase! Other sponsors for our event included Brooks Brothers, Banana Republic, Molly Moon, Ollie Quinn, and H. Bailey.
We are looking forward to growing the fashion community here in Seattle even more and to continue providing opportunities for lifestyle brands and fashion influencers. Stay tuned as we have more exciting things on the way!

An interview with Endurance Nweke: What is Dapper
Dressing up dapper is never a bad option because you can wear it essentially any social setting, whether it’s for a job interview, first date, networking event, or party. Dapper isn’t only about suiting up from head to toe. It’s more about being creative with your style and getting out of the norm. In preparation for the 4th annual Dapper as **** this weekend, YPOS had the chance to interview local fashion blogger and fellow Seattle Gents influencer Endurance Weke of The Curator of Cool to grab a few tips!
YPOS: One of my favorite parts of the Dapper As * * * * party is the fashion. The guys really bring it! What is one of the easiest things guys can do to dress up and standout?
Endurance Nweke: Now we all know that women bring it every day, so guys we need to bring it once again. The easiest ways to dress up and stand out are to introduce subtle details to your outfits that make it pop. For example, utilizing a seersucker dress shirt gives you a textured look that you can play with and add other patterns and accessories to make it cohesive.
YPOS: Brightly patterned and funny designed socks seem to be all the rage right now. How can someone show off their personality and still look dressed up?
EN: The best way to show off your personality is to utilize accessories or take the time to craft your outfit selective so that each standalone piece still says something about you. If you’re opting to use accessories, it’s all about placement. Having a bright pocket square is a nice touch, but you can also have your go-to watch or bracelet and couple that with a lapel pin or broach that you can attach to your blazer that will also add some panache.
YPOS: One size never fits all. What’s an easy alteration you would suggest for everyone’s wardrobe?
EN: An easy alteration for most guys would be to have your trousers custom-fitted. Going to see a tailor is just as important as seeing your barber. Think about it – you only let one person cut your hair because they know your head like no one else does. Getting a tailor is beneficial because they will know your body will change the more you work with them. They can tailor your jeans so it’s a slimmer fit and not such a loose or airy look.
YPOS: Accessories really ramp up our outfit for “dapper.” Would you suggest tie, bow-tie, or none at all?
EN: If I had to suggest one, I’d say go bow tie. Have faith in your fit and let the bow tie bring all the attention to your face.

Suited Soor & Curator of Cool present Spring Session
In May 2018, Avi Soor of Suited Soor and Endurance Weke of The Curator of Cool hosted Spring Session, an event where the two local bloggers featured their favorite spring outfits of the season. We wanted to give our community the chance to meet and mingle with other menswear influencers and enthusiasts in the community if they haven’t already.
The event was held at Scout PNW at the Thompson Hotel in downtown Seattle. We began the evening at the restaurant bar where everyone grabbed a cocktail. As most of our attendees arrived, we shifted over to the outside courtyard. The space was a perfect patio area for a small group to gather and chat.
Avi and Endurance took the stage for a few minutes to talk about how they like dressing up in spring. Endurance highlighted the importance of light clothing such as a searsucker shirt while Avi emphasized his preference of floral design and bright colors.
We have plenty more opportunities to get involved with our community this year. If you’re looking for a network of people who love fashion and style, be sure to RSVP for our next event. Stay tuned!
